  • Obrimah Oghenovo, Ph.D., Curriculum Developer
  • Nicholas Umontuen, M.B.A., Manager

The Department of Business Administration offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). Within the BSBA, students complete a Business Administration major. Within this Business Administration major, students may choose a specialized concentration in accounting, financial economics, international business, management, or marketing. Students may also choose to focus only on the Business Administration major with no specialized concentration.

A concentration is also available in Music Business through Belmont University.

Another option is a joint major in business administration in conjunction with a major from outside the department. If a student desires to complete a joint major, the student must fulfill all requirements for the business major, as well as concentration requirements (if applicable).

The various study options available within the Department of Business Administration are designed to ensure that students are job-ready and well prepared for graduate school. Completing the BSBA offers a strong foundation for professional careers and specialized roles in accounting, finance, economics, international business, management, or marketing. The BSBA degree is also designed to ensure that students hold the skills and qualifications to continue their studies in post-graduate business programs and other social science disciplines.

The transformational educational experience offered by the Department of Business Administration comprises an emphasis on experiential learning, immersion in community service projects, and competitive internships. Within the formal coursework, students are coached in developing their analytical skills, critical thinking skills, business writing skills, and professional presentation skills. In addition to formal coursework, students are provided opportunities for personal development and community involvement. The emphasis on practical business knowledge is also facilitated with internship opportunities that combine applied business experience with academic study.

Students enrolled in the Department of Business Administration are eligible for membership in the Society for the Advancement of Management; the National Association of Black Accountants; and Enactus. Qualified students are inducted into the international honor society in business, Delta Mu Delta.
