Minor: Spanish

Nancy Rasico, M.A.T., Coordinator

The minor in Spanish emphasizes oral communication and writing skills, knowledge of broader cultural patterns in the Spanish-speaking world, and proficiency in specific professional and cultural contexts. The minor builds on Fisk’s  tradition of cross-disciplinary dialogue as a liberal arts institution, encouraging students to cultivate skills in languages through speaking, writing, and research, then apply them in multiple areas of study. The Spanish minor emphasizes language and writing skills, as well as familiarity with applied language skills in a variety of areas, including literature, cultural studies, and language and vocabulary in professional settings (such as the medical field).

Requirements

The minor in Spanish requires 15 total hours in a 3-credit system. The minor can be declared in conjunction with any major (BA or BS). As a minor, it will not require a major field test.

To complete the minor, the student must complete all requirements for one of the major fields described elsewhere in this Bulletin in the process of meeting the total credit-hour graduation requirement and the requirements for one of the major fields.
