Human Development & Leadership Concentration
The Human Development and Leadership Concentration is developed to prepare students to work in administration, program development, social justice, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, political science and a host of other diverse career settings. Students will become more confident and improve social and behavioral development.
Learning Outcomes
The students will be able to:
- Develop critical thinking abilities.
- Cultivate a sense of self-awareness by identifying a leadership vision, mission, style and values.
- Demonstrate knowledge of diversity around identities, cultures, and society.
- Show an understanding of their leadership ability.
- Enhance awareness and commitment towards effective citizenship and social responsibility.
- Take a multidisciplinary approach and examine the differential effects on development fostered by disparities in socioeconomic, educational, and cultural factors.
- Demonstrate basic precepts of workplace law and ethical decision making and evaluate policy and practice accordingly.
- Understand best practices in leading groups, be able to demonstrate the facilitation of effective group processes and learn strategies for addressing programs in groups.
- Acquire knowledge and skills for doing substantive research in diverse cultural contexts.
